Esteban Vargas Marcano .(Tetelo), de quien la m\u00e1s importante edificaci\u00f3n deportiva de Macor\u00eds, lleva su nombre como homenaje perenne a una gloria del deporte nacional ,que se entreg\u00f3 en cuerpo y alma a la causa de las Estrellas Orientales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El \u00abGamo\u00bb, nombre que se le conoc\u00eda por la velocidad de sus piernas, fue parte importante de las Estrellas Orientales en el campeonato del 1954; donde Tetelo fue l\u00edder de bateo a la edad de 47 a\u00f1os.Siendo as\u00ed el pelotero m\u00e1s viejo en ganar un champion bate. Jug\u00f3 hasta la temporada de 1956 con 50 a\u00f1os de edad cuando se produjo su retiro, muri\u00f3 en Puerto Rico donde reposan sus restos.
